Secondary Librarian’s Bio

Teacher Librarian :  Ms .Yvonne Mayo

Marhaba! My name is Yvonne Mayo and I am the Learning Commons Coordinator and a Middle School/High School Librarian. I have been a librarian for more than 13 years, most recently at the American International School of Jeddah. My passion is matching readers to books in order to foster a culture of lifelong readers! To accomplish this, I also thrive on collection development that fills our Learning Commons with books and other resources that meet the academic and recreational reading needs of our school population. Filling our shelves with these resources requires input from all of our users, and I welcome your suggestions in finding the things you would enjoy to add to our collection!

I can also be found in classrooms and throughout the library teaching students about digital citizenship, sourcing online information for research, and effectively using the databases and other resources that we have access to in our Learning Commons. Whether doing research for a class or just wanting to know more about a topic out of personal curiosity, you can count on me and our Learning Commons staff to help you find the answers you need!

In my former life, I have been a home economist, a preschool administrator, and an elementary, middle, and high school librarian in the states. I have a BS degree in Home Economics Education, a Masters degree in Public Administration, and a Masters degree in Library and Information Science. I am a proponent of lifelong learning and hope to share that enthusiasm here!
